Violence in Kent and Medway: The Importance of Contextual Safeguarding and a Trauma Informed Approach Seminar
This event is being held to update you about violence prevention in Kent and Medway; to enhance your understanding of contextual safeguarding and to highlight the importance of adopting a trauma-informed approach when working with children, young people and their families.
Carlene Firmin, a national pioneer in contextual safeguarding, will deliver the keynote speech and leaders from Kent County Council (KCC), Medway Council, Kent Police, and the NHS will share details of the innovative practice that is already taking place within their agencies.
The seminar will also launch and showcase a suite of innovative free resources, that have been developed in partnership with the Kent and Medway Violent Reduction Unit, to enhance practitioner understanding of contextual safeguarding (including the lived experience of service users) and of a trauma informed approach.
All multi-agency practitioners working with children, young people and families in Kent and Medway, including colleagues from the Voluntary and Community Sector, Kent Police, Community Safety, NHS, Mental Health Services, Youth Services, Early Help, and Social Care.
