We offer a variety of free multi-agency classroom, virtual and e-learning based training courses and learning event for those working with children, young people and families in Kent.

To complete / access a course you will need to login to your KSCMP online training account. If you are not registered with our site, please create an account and follow the instructions provided.

Booking onto a face-to-face or virtual course

If you would like to attend one of our face-to-face or virtual courses, please make sure you enrol onto the relevant course, then book onto the date of the session you would like to attend.

Please note enrolment on a course will need to be approved by the KSCMP Business Team. Only once this has been approved can you book a space on the specific event date you wish to attend. Notification that your enrolment has been accepted is not a booking confirmation.

Non-completion / attendance and cancellation policy

Learners must complete a e-learning course within a maximum of 4 weeks. A £40 non-completion fee  will  be issued should course not be completed within the designated timescale. The 4 week period starts from when you start the course.

A  £50 non-attendance fee will be issued to anyone who fails to attend a face-to-face or virtual course without notifying us. All cancellations must be made one week before the event date. If you wish to cancel your booking, this can be done via your training account or by emailing kscmptraining@kent.gov.uk.

Certification

All our courses are CPD certificated and certificates will be accessible once the course has been completed/attended. Certificates must be downloaded via your training account, as we do not send them directly.

Abuse related to beliefs in witchcraft

This course will help identify children and young people at risk of witchcraft abuse.

Adult self-neglect

Self-neglect can be difficult to recognise, and it can be difficult to know how to help. It's important to know the signs and symptoms of self-neglect and/or handling, and how to respond. This course will explorer these areas, as well as recognising when you should be concerned about an individual, and understanding Safeguarding Adults Reviews (SARs).

Autism awareness

This course will give you an introduction and awareness of autism. It is aimed at those who have no, or little knowledge  of Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and want to make a difference in the lives of individuals with autism, including parents, carers and professionals.

Bullying and cyberbullying

This course explores the negative effects of bullying in any form and teaches positive strategies and solutions for those working with children and young people who experience bullying.

Child sexual exploitation (level 1)

By completing this course you will learn what child sexual exploitation (CSE) is, the key role technology plays, the difference between gang and group CSE, and about CSE from the perspectives of offenders and victims.

Child sexual exploitation (level 2)

This course has been developed to help those who have a statutory duty to safeguard children and young people, to know the law in relation to child sexual exploitation (CSE), and know how to record a CSE risk assessment. You will also learn some essential CSE practice principles and intervention strategies.

Criminal exploitation and county lines

This course will help you to become more aware of criminal exploitation and its different forms, and to understand what signs to look out for and how to respond.

Diabetes awareness

This course will provide you with an awareness of diabetes, and is suitable for anyone who wishes to gain a better understanding of what diabetes is, how it is managed and what causes it.

Domestic abuse

This course will help you learn who is at risk and how the law can help. You will also learn about domestic abuse from the perspective of both the victim and perpetrator.

Eating disorders

This awareness course provides an insightful overview to eating disorders. It will describe the physical and psychological symptoms of anorexia, bulimia and binge eating, as well as the possible causes. It will explain how carers and families can help when they suspect someone may have an eating disorder and what treatments are currently available.

Effective communication with children and families

This course will help you learn how to communicate effectively with children, young people and their parents or carers.

Emotional abuse

By completing this course you will learn the definition of emotional abuse; know who emotionally abuses children; know the signs and symptoms; and learn the points to consider where emotional abuse is suspected.

Epilepsy awareness

This course gives an overview of epilepsy, including the causes, symptoms, treatments, what to do if someone has a seizure and the legal position with regards to employment and driving.

Equality and diversity

This course is split into four modules to help you thoroughly explore the issues involved and their relevance, including protections laid out in the Equality Act 2010. You will learn inclusion terms of equality and diversity and the universal benefits or promoting an inclusive workplace. The course also discusses the protected characteristics and explains the problems surrounding prejudice and discrimination.

Female genital mutilation (FGM)

This course will help increase your understanding of the issues surrounding FGM. It will also help you handle situations appropriately where FGM has occurred or might occur.

Fire safety awareness

This engaging and thought-provoking course will give learners an insight into fire safety in the UK.

Food allergy awareness

This engaging course will provide excellent understanding of the impact food allergies have on a person, how to ensure businesses adhere to the legal requirements, what those requirements are, what type of foods can cause a reaction and how to help someone who is suffering.

Framework for the assessment of children and their families

The assessment framework provides evidence to help, guide and inform judgements about children's welfare and safety from the first point of contact, through the processes of assessment, planning and review.

Gangs and youth violence

This course provides a comprehensive overview of gangs and youth violence, helping you to understand what gangs are and what they do, the part women and girls play in gangs and what can be done to prevent gang recruitment. The course contains three modules which will provide you with a comprehensive pictures of the current UK gang activities.

GDPR for staff (core)

This course provides information on the Data Protection Act and General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR). It talks about why the legislation was introduced, the similarities and differences between the old regime and new, and the enhanced rights we all have in relation to the processing of personal data.

Gypsy and traveller cultural awareness

A comprehensive cultural awareness course on gypsies and travellers in the UK. Informative and interactive, it is comprised of four modules covering gypsy and traveller history and culture, the main challenges for these communities, what can be done to help these groups access services, and how to improve their participation in other areas such as education.

Hate crime

This course provides awareness of what a hate crime and hate incident is and how prevalent they are. By completing this course you will learn who the victims and perpetrators are, what effect hate crimes have on a person, what the current challenges are, and the law around hate crime and how to respond to an incident.

Hidden harm - parental substance misuse, parental mental illness and domestic abuse

This course provides a detailed awareness of hidden harm (toxic trio) and how it affects parents and carers, children and young people. The course will provide you with excellent knowledge of the issues that affect children living with hidden harm. It will help you understand the cycle of events ech hidden harm stressor produces, how to spot the signs, and the appropriate times to break the cycle of events to safeguard the child.

Honour-based violence and forced marriages

This course will increase your understanding of the issues surrounding honour-based violence and forced marriage. It will also help you handle situations appropriately where this abuse has occured or might occur.

Human trafficking and modern day slavery

Discover what modern slavery and human trafficking looks like, with this comprehensive collections of modules. You will learn about child trafficking and slavery, how to spot the signs of modern day slavery, and what you should do.

Information sharing and consent for people working with children

By completing this course you will learn what information sharing is and its importance, how information sharing can prevent harm, why it is important to keep good records, who can give and refuse consent, the seven golden rules of information sharing, what is confidential information and the question you should ask prior to sharing information.

Information and cyber security

This course explains the main threats to information security and shows how to keep data secure in your workplace and on the move.

Keeping good records

The course will help improve your skills and practice in keeping good records.

Loneliness and isolation

This course is for anyone who comes into contact with people who might be lonely or isolated. It will provide an awareness of what isolation and loneliness is, who might be vulnerable, how to spot signs that someone might need help, and what you do to help tackle this issue.

Loss and bereavement

The course looks at different types of loss and how they affect people, including how adults, children and young people handle loss. You'll learn how to support the bereaved with practical tips and a thorough understanding of how to communicate with them.

Medication awareness and safe handling of medicines

This course will give you an insight into the procedures that should be followed when taking charge of a person's medication outside of a health setting. It discusses requesting prescriptions; maintaining records; storing, administration and disposing of medication; self-medication; and issues that might arise in the administration of medication.

Mental capacity act

By completing this course you will know about the Mental Capacity Act, its principles and the implications for vulnerable adults.

Missing children

This course will provide you with an understanding of the government's statutory guidance on children and young people who runaway or go missing from home or care. The course will give you the confidence to know what to do when a child goes missing, when they are found or return independently and how children going missing or being absent can be prevented.

Multi-agency working

By completing this course you will learn the background to multi-agency working, the benefits, the steps to improve, prerequisites for an effective team, interpersonal skills required to ensure teamwork and to understand the five stages of group development.

Neglect

This three-part course provides an overview of neglect, so you can learn the signs and symptoms and what to do if you suspect neglect.

New and expectant mothers

This course details legislation relating to employers and employees responsibilities, the entitlements for new and expectant mothers, the common physical, biological and chemical hazards in the workplace, risk assessments and tips on assisting new and expectant mothers in any workplace.

Online safety - risks to children

This course will enable you to learn the potential risks associated with the internet, what adults and children need to know in order to manage the risks, the 3 C's, how to manage risks from the perspective of an adult and how to manage risks from the perspective of a child.

Online safety for parents and carers

Online safety is all about protecting people (especially children and young people) in the digital world. You will learn to understand and use new technologies in a safe and positive way, and knowing the risks as well as the benefits.

Personal safety - lone worker

This course looks at who a lone worker is, what they might experience and the responsibilities of their manager. It also looks at lone workers responsibility for their own safety.

Physical abuse

This course will enable you to learn the definition of physical abuse, who physically abuses children, the signs and symptoms and the points to consider where physical abuse is suspected.

Private fostering

By completing this course you will learn what private fostering is and the legislations and regulations that have impacted on private fostering. You will also be able to understand the roles and duties of local authorities, discover what you need to do when you become aware of a private fostering arrangement and known where to seek advice.

Safeguarding awareness for higher education

This course is for staff and students who might come into contact with or who have occasional contact with children or vulnerable adults as part of their work/placement. The course explains how to recognise abuse, reduce the risk of abuse and what to do if you suspect abuse or if abuse is disclosed to you.

Safeguarding adults (level 1)

This course will give you the skills and knowledge required to identify and respond to concerns, disclosures and allegations of abuse and substandard practice.  The course will also enable you to learn about prevention and proportionate interventions and the dangers of risk adverse practice and the importance of upholding human rights. The course complies with Level 1 Social Care and Levels 1 and 2 Healthcare.

Safeguarding against radicalisation - the prevent duty

By completing this course you will learn about the Prevent Strategy and the Channel process and what you should do if you believe that someone you known is vulnerable to being exploited or radicalised. This course is Home Office accredited and approved.

Safeguarding children for education (level 1)

This course is intended for those who work in the education sector who make or could potentially make safeguarding referrals to the local authority children's services.

Safeguarding children (level 1)

If you work or have contact with children and young people, this course will teach you how to carry out your safeguarding responsibilities effectively.

Safeguarding children (level 2)

This course will enable you to know what to consider before making a referral, understand the importance  of keeping up to date chronologies, and know what information should be provided to the local authority children's services and the questions you need to ask.

Safeguarding children in sport

The course will examine the roles of people who come into contact with children through sport. It describes the different types of abuse and considers what can be done to ensure the abuse is recognised, stopped and prevented.

Safeguarding children with disabilities

By completing this course you will learn the definition of disability, understand why disabled children are more vulnerable to abuse and recognise the challenges faced when abuse is suspected.

Safeguarding for designated practitioners (level 3)

If you work with or around children, you can never know too much about safeguarding. Whether it's procedures, referrals, asking appropriate questions or your roles and responsibilities. This course will continue to build up your knowledge and skills so that we can ensure children are kept safe from abuse and harm.

Safer recruitment

This course has been developed in line with the Department of Education's Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance. The course will help you to recruit staff or volunteers in organisations that provides services for children and young people.

Self-harm

This course will help you learn the risk factors of self-harm, the common reasons why children and young people may self-harm and how to respond.

Sexual abuse and recognising grooming

By completing this course you will learn why it is important to talk about and address child sexaul abuse , the definition of sexual abuse, know who sexually abuses and exploits children, the signs and symptoms and recognise the points to consider where sexual abuse is suspected.

Substance misuse

This course will enable you to understand how drugs work, how their use affects people and their families and how addicts can be supported.

Suicide prevention - risks and awareness

This course has been designed to ensure you have a basic understanding of suicide prevention, and to increase your knowledge and confidence about the role you play in keeping people safe.

Supporting male victims of domestic abuse

This digital online training programme, developed in partnership with ManKind Initiative, is for anyone who comes into contact with possible male victims of domestic abuse, especially in frontline roles.

Teenage pregnancy

By completing this course you will be able to understand the complex issues of teenage pregnancy, the causes and consequences, current government strategies for reducing teenage conception rates and sexual risk-taking, and how the right support and access to contraceptive advice / services can make a difference.

Trauma awareness

This courses will ensure you have the knowledge you need to understand trauma and adversity, and is suitable for all members of Kent and Medway's multi-agency workforce to help support adults, children, young people and families.

Unconscious bias

This course provides clear insight into the development and impact on unconscious bias, as well as providing an understanding of the benefits of awareness.

Understanding behaviour of children and young people

This course will enable you to outline the benefits of studying the behaviour of children and young people, examine the words used to describe behaviour, consider both observable and hidden aspects of behaviour, explore what is meant by acceptable behaviour and look at examples of how to manage the challenging behaviours of various age groups.

Understanding child development

The aim of this course is to give learners an awareness of child development and the opportunity to begin to think about how an understanding of how children and young people develop impacts on practice.

Violence reduction

To be able to reduce violence in youth, we need to fully understand the extent of the issue first. This course explores a background to youth violence and the need for reduction, covering topics such as the connections between youth violence and other forms of violence and experiences, the impacts of violence and how to respond.
